Tomorrow marks the start of one of our most highly anticipated events of the year: the American Dietetic Association’s Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo. Thousands of dietitians come together from around the country at FNCE to catch up on the latest science and nutrition trends. As an organization that specializes in communicating the latest science and trends to health professionals, FNCE is a great opportunity for us to connect with a huge group of dietitians and of course reconnect with lots of friends and experts. There’s so much going on over the course of the four day conference, so we wanted to highlight some of the things we’re most looking forward to.
1) Our most anticipated session is Sunday’s Hot Topic: the Case for Dietary Guidance: New Recommendations to Improve Consumer Health. International Food Information Council Foundation Senior Vice President Marianne Smith Edge will join Eric Hentges of the International Life Sciences Institute and Roger Clemens, the President Elect of the Institute for Food Technologists. The session will go beyond the new Dietary Guidelines for Americans and focus on how to communicate them to help consumers incorporate the guidelines into their daily lives.
2) The opening and closing sessions this year include some big names that we’re very excited to hear. Faith D’Aluisio and Peter Menzel will kick off the conference with a look at their travels around the world documenting what people eat in different countries. Finally, to bookend the conference, Anthony Bourdain will talk about his world travels and how to enjoy the globalization of food.
3) The exhibit hall is a great place to check out tons of new products, trends and information on nutrition. We’ll be there at booth #2919 so come say hi!
Beyond the regular activities at FNCE, we’ll be featuring a series here on our blog with a guest blog from a different dietitian each day offering their thoughts on the latest trends in food and nutrition. We’ll also be tweeting throughout the conference. Be sure to follow us @FoodInsight and @IFICMedia for the latest news and takeaways from the sessions.
What are you most looking forward to at FNCE?
