Bring Breakfast Back
As mom always said, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And we believe it! According to our 2009 Food & Health Survey, 93 percent of Americans agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet less than half (44 percent) are eating breakfast everyday. The International Food Information Council Foundation has put together some resources that can help make it easy for you to prepare a healthful breakfast for you and your family. We’ve also thrown in some educational videos and other materials highlighting the benefits of eating breakfast.
Breakfast Benefits Abound
Additional research has found that kids (and grown-ups) who eat breakfast are able to concentrate better and maintain a healthy body weight. Breakfast eaters also end up consuming more healthful fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat and fat-free dairy, all of which are food groups encouraged by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
