NEWS BITE: This National Nutrition Month, IFIC Foundation Enjoys the Taste of Eating Right

For the last eight years, American consumers have told IFIC Foundation that taste is the factor they value most from their food. Many Americans, however, do not appreciate the variety of interesting and enjoyable tastes that are available in foods that are also full of nutrients.

Tasting is Believing

This year, in commemoration of National Nutrition Month’s theme, “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right,” the Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) at IFIC Foundation organized a taste test for the IFIC staff of new foods with unusual flavors that are also packed with healthful nutrients. We asked blindfolded volunteers to sample these wonderful foods and consider how they might include them in their recipes and captured their reactions in this video.

In addition, IFIC developed a Facebook tab on the Food Insight Facebook page with a contest challenging dietetic students to submit their videos of how they enjoy the taste of eating right. Their reward is both discovering the flavors of healthful foods and a chance for one lucky grand prize entrant to win a complimentary registration for the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Food and Nutrition Conference and Exhibition (FNCE) in Atlanta, Georgia this fall. There’s still time to enter! Entries will be accepted through the Food Insight Facebook page until March 31.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the taste of some healthful new food options this month and that you’ll celebrate with us the rest of the month and beyond!
