Editor’s Note: Bringing Holiday Cheer to 2015 Food and Nutrition Communications!

As the holiday season is once again upon us, we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and healthful holiday! We hope your year has been full of valuable insights on food and health, and that Food Insight has helped to play a role in providing science-based information on food safety and nutrition that you can use every day!

We are grateful for the positive interactions we have had with so many of you throughout the year in many venues, including this newsletter, in-person conferences and meetings, webcasts, and social media. We look forward to continuing to engage with you on timely food and health issues in 2015. It will be an especially exciting year for the IFIC Foundation, as we conduct the 10th annual Food & Health Survey! We look forward to releasing the best survey yet, full of unique consumer insights about calories and weight, lifestyle, labeling, nutrients, ingredients, and safety when it comes to our food.

As I reflect on the year that has just passed and look ahead to a new year full of promise, I, for one, am optimistic. While some have attempted to detract from science-based discussions and treat others whose opinions differ from their own disrespectfully, the majority of interactions I’ve had include those who are genuinely interested in a thoughtful and respectful dialogue that is science-based and that minimizes the “drama” around some of the more controversial topics. It is gratifying to see appreciation for balanced, fact-based food and health communications!

As we all hopefully slow down to enjoy time with family and friends and ring in a New Year, let’s remember to bring the cheer and gratitude we feel back with us to our 2015 food and health communications.

Happy Holidays!!

Note: Food Insight will return in February 2015. Thank you for a great year and we look forward to seeing you soon!
