From Science to Communication: Understanding Fructose, HFCS, and Sugars CPE Module
The International Food Information Council (IFIC) and the International Life Sciences Institute (ILIS), North America have developed a Commission on Dietetic Registration-approved continuing professional education (CPE) self-study module, "From Science to Communication: Understanding Fructose, HFCS, and Sugars."
Registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered, may earn one CPE credit hour for attending the event by following the instructions below.
After completing this CPE program, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the differences between fructose and high fructose corn syrup, including chemical structure, dietary sources and health effects
- Explain the physiological effects associated with fructose intake
- Discuss new fructose intake data and compare levels eaten by the population with those used in many studies
- Describe fructose absorption and the problem of fructose intolerance
- Communicate about sugars in a consumer-friendly manner
