Hot Topic Food for Health: Managing Your Weight

From helping you stay full longer to contributing to a healthy body weight, foods and beverages can provide benefits beyond basic nutrition, and helping you manage your weight is one of these benefits. Foods and beverages that can provide benefits beyond basic nutrition are known as “functional foods.” A recent survey of Americans ages 18 years and older showed that 81 percent of adults believe that foods and beverages can help contribute to a healthy body weight and 73 percent of adults believe that certain foods can provide you with a feeling of fullness for a longer period of time.

While the majority of Americans are aware of these benefits, just around half of those who are aware report that they are consuming foods for these benefits. To help Americans manage their waist lines, the International Food Information Council Foundation working in partnership with nutrition expert and author, David Grotto, RD, developed a video and resources.  These resources provide healthful eating and lifestyle tips that can help you on your path to weight management.
